Here Is Why You Should Be In Love With Facebook!

Love it or hate it Facebook owns 64.83% of the total market share for social media networks in the UK and it’s not going to get knocked off the top spot anytime soon!

Here Is Why You Should Be In Love With Facebook

If you are not harnessing the power of this marketing tool for your business, be it product or service led, you are missing a trick.

Be In Love With Facebook

With 80% of mobile users admitting to checking their devices within 15 minutes of waking up each morning… what do you think will be the first thing the majority of people check? You guessed it Facebook notifications!

Perhaps it’s a motivational quote of the day, a reaction to one of your personal posts or business posts, a new event from your favourite band, or activity in a group you participate in, it’s there ready and waiting with new content and ‘stuff’ for you to look at. And, if there aren’t any notifications, why not have a good old scroll through the newsfeed and see what your community is up to whilst you enjoy 5 more minutes in your nest!

Facebook has it’s finger on the pulse when it comes to behavioural science, probably why it currently employs 36,000 people! All of the content it shows us; be it stories from our friends, pages we follow, groups we participate in, or even adverts we are shown; has been designed around our passions and the articles we click on.

Complex algorithms monitoring your activity and patterns of behaviour on the platform, are there in the background collecting data, gaining greater insights and marketing arsenal to show you the type of content that creates a reaction. So why not harness it and use it to your advantage?

Facebook As A Marketing Tool

For big businesses and small businesses alike Facebook provides a medium to:-

  • Build a rapport with your community
  • Showcase your new products or services
  • Ask for recommendations
  • Collect reviews
  • Advertise
  • Share content

And all whilst your business gains all important brand awareness and market share!

Marketing Budget and Advertising Costs

If your company turnover is £100,000 and you take 10% of your gross turnover for your Marketing budget (so £10,000). In our experiences as Marketing Executive/Manager/Director roughly one third of that budget should go on your advertising costs. So that’s £3,333.33!

Let’s compare the cost of Google advertising to Facebook advertising

For Google Ads, a sensible budget for most industries is £10 per day. So, OUCH, that’s £3,650 a year. And, oops! You’ve already blown your advertising budget. Plus, that doesn’t even take into consideration the cost of setting up the campaigns, which could be at least a 1-2 day job.

Now if we look at Facebook, you can set up various different types of ads (which aren’t just text but incorporate video, images and emojis!) and limit your spend to a £2.50 per day budget, that’s £912.50 a year. Plus, your set up costs, 2-3 hours. That’s plenty left in the pot for different types of advertising and paying skilled people to set up and monitor them for you.

Undoubtedly if your business has a larger advertising budget Google Ads can be considered as part of your strategy! However, if you are limited by budget, or your company cash flow is tied up elsewhere, Facebook provides a fantastic route to market.

Quick Advertising Tip! Ensure your adverts are designed to attract the attention of key decision makers and the end users to create market demand for your service or product.

If You Can’t Measure It, You Can’t Improve It

We stand by Peter Ducker’s famous quote above. Whatever you do ensure you are measuring your performance. We suggest calculating:-

  • Average Click-Through Rate (CTR)
  • Average Cost per Click (CPC)
  • Average Conversion Rate (CVR)
  • Average Cost per Action (CPA)

All of these metrics can be found in when you access your Facebook advertising campaigns via Facebook ad manager.
